The online game

Multiplication practice inside a game task

In the online game you can play alone on a computer, or open a class and play with friends from a distance. You can also play together on the same device.

  • Who is it for?

For children practising multiplication at home, in class, in adapted teaching or in a learning centre. Parents and teachers choose the level and the way of playing according to existing knowledge, the practice goal and the support needed.

  • What do you practise?

Multiplication facts by level, practising recall and fluent answering, and using hints to understand how to solve. Choosing the route adds a chance to plan and compare ways.

  • How do you play?

Solve an exercise and choose the hexagon with the answer as your target. Plan a route, pass through doors and solve exercises. A correct answer lets the dog move on and collect food pieces. The type of door sets the type of exercise and the number of food pieces you get.

  • How does the game support learning?

At every door there is another chance to solve and get feedback. You can try to recall the answer, use a way of working it out, and return to exercises that need more practice. For example, 6 times 9 can be worked out as 6 times 10 minus 6.

  • How do you choose what to continue with?

Look at accuracy, response time and use of help. A short time on its own does not show mastery; it matters to see that the child answers correctly and independently in further practice too. Accordingly, you can choose facts to practise, reduce help or add a challenge.

The game with the dog

Multiplication, planning and shared activity on the number carpet

Choose a target for the dog, plan a route and work out in advance how many food pieces will be needed on the way. Before each step, roll two dice and solve a multiplication exercise. A correct answer lets you move on. Reaching the target successfully can add points, according to the turn rules.

  • Who is it for?

For dog handlers who work with children, teachers of adapted instruction and parents who want to combine a learning game with an activity with the dog.

  • What do you practise?

Alongside multiplication facts, the game invites route planning, counting, cumulative addition and keeping track of a sequence of actions. In a session you can choose one focus: solving independently, planning the route, working out the food pieces or checking together.

  • What is the dog's role?

The dog is a partner in the activity: you plan the route for it, accompany its movement and pay attention to its participation. The activity invites connection, responsibility and a chance to do something meaningful together.

  • How do you support the learning?

The player says the exercise and the answer aloud, and the others check. The helper can see what was done independently, where calculation was needed and what help made it possible to go on. That way you choose the focus of the next session and adjust the support.
